Public Art Committee

Mission

The Public Art Committee advises the Village Board of Trustees on public art—sculptures, murals, installations, and other visual works—on village property or in our shared spaces. We help bring beauty, meaning, and engagement into the places where we live, work, and gather. Our work helps to develop Dobbs Ferry’s unique sense of place, connecting our residents and visitors to the character, history, ecological richness, and creativity of our Village.

What We Do

• Review and recommend new public art projects, considering artistic quality, safety, durability, fit with the local context, and alignment with village values and goals

• Develop simple guidelines so that public art processes are fair, transparent, and welcoming to artists

• Care for what we have by helping inventory and maintain the village's public art collection

• Listen and invite community input—so public art reflects all of us

• Partner and collaborate with schools, the library, local arts groups, businesses and neighboring municipalities to create opportunities for creativity and connection
